Recently transplanted from California to North Alabama I find myself in awe of my new surroundings. Gone are the traffic, the smog, and the burning of the mountains and hills of So.Cal. I have a giant learning curve to adjust to, and find myself not minding it much at all. This is the beginning of my new life… the one I have wanted for so long.

We live on 5 acres near Cincinnati in the country and love it also!
Sherry, currently, we are on just under an acre, and we have entirely outgrown it’s capacity to provide for all our critters! We have purchased 25 acres with a very old home on it that we are trying to restore. Once we get the kitchen and the laundry facilities functioning we will be moving there so we can have more time to get the rest done… it is a lot of work restoring a home begun as a cabin in back in 1840.

Jackie, thank you. I haven’t made it much past Birmingham yet. Although, in the early 70s I used to travel a bit between Pensacola and Baton Rouge, Louisiana via the I-10. Montgomery and Selma are on my list of places to visit. So much history here in Alabama!

I’m so glad to have found your blog! This is a dream of mine too, to retire into the country with a small farm to my name which for the moment doesn’t seem possible 🙂

Ahem… you are never too old to have fun, and if this is your heart’s desire, then I say go for it! I will say that this life change is not without its struggles, and that perhaps we should have thought of this sooner, but it is still a goal we desire to accomplish and working towards its completion keeps life interesting. 😉

Thank you for visiting, Carol. I do enjoy my country life, but will admit that right now I would be liking some of the warmth of your country! It is only 12 degrees (-11 Celsius) at 10:00 am this morning and will only get to a high of 23deg. (-5 Celsius) today. C-c-c-c-cold!
