A Benefit of Sleeping In

It isn’t every day that I get to sleep in, but this morning as Bob left for work an hour earlier than usual he offered to reset the alarm for me.

I took that offer!

Still foggy headed I let the dogs out, made coffee, let the dogs back in and fed them.  I then proceeded to wander over to the big picture window in the living room to have my first view of the day.  Sunny, too cold, the bird bath’s contents a solid block of ice.

A dear leaps into my view and races across the yard.  I’m awake now!  Another leaps by and as my jaw drops,  yet another follows close on her tail!

I think it took me a full minute to realize I was standing there with my mouth open and silly wide-eyed expression still pasted across my face.  What an awesome way to start the day!

I hope your day is pleasant and has at least one surprise in store for you too.

What a delight. I’ve discovered I have a single goldfinch hanging around. I saw it again this morning, so I’m off to get some niger seed, fingers crossed that I can tempt it and its friends back into view. Happy day to you!

Linda, it wasn’t until we moved here that I realized that the little green finches I saw in winter were actually the same gold finches I’d seen all summer. The are so darling aren’t they? Oh yes, and it was a happy day, thank you! I hope yours was the same. 🙂

Annie, no singing for me! I am totally unable to carry even one note these days. However, throughout the day I felt that silly grin return to my face every time I thought about those dear! 😀

Sounds like a wonderful morning to me! We were a bit warmer today, enough that the doves weren’t ice skating on the bird bath.

Patti, it was and the good feeling lasted the day through! It’s supposed to warm up here today and then rain again tonight. Thankfully it will be a light rain; nothing torrential like last week!

Lynda, what you describe is what I see/feel each morning when I stand on the back porch and marvel at the wild things and watch the sun wake up the woodland bottom. There is always something special for us each day… if only we take the time to look.

Deer may become an important part of your life on the mountain farmlet. I see these local deer as some kind of sign of things to come! 🙂

I certainly hope you are right, Lori. The past two years have been so terribly non-conducive to our Mountain Farmlet desires. I hope things will simmer down financially and health wise so we can get back at the tasks that need doing. In the meantime, I am sent little visuals to keep my spirits up, and that will have to do for now. 🙂

Yes, Laurie! The only thing that could have made it better would have been to have had a camera right there, but that’s OK the moment is etched in my brain! 🙂

I love to tell about things in detail, and without a photograph I needed to paint with words. That is how we were taught to write in college. Some people don’t like all that detail. I imagine them to be the graphic novel readers.

Thank you for letting me know that my details are working!

So how about that? Go on; say something!
