My Window Faces the South

“My window faces the South, and [we’re] almost half way to heaven…”

(Please see the notes on this song at the end of the post!)

Follow me, through the woods…

keep going!

Past the pony who’s escaped his pasture.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hello, naughty Pony!

Past some pretty new flowers of spring.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We’ll follow along the creek for a bit,

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and beyond the water pump,

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

and the pond,

The pond

to…

The New Farmlet from the back

The new Farmlet!

An antique home (174 years and counting) on 23 acres with a pond for Polly and Frellnick, and that wonderful walking trail you just accompanied me on through the woods and along the creek!

New Farmlet two

Looking from the front you will see the rock fireplace, which is where the old log cabin was constructed in the 1840s.  Later, the home was expanded in the 1920s to the proportions you see here.  In 2006, there was an addition of a large bedroom and bath in the back.  All of the wood for the construction over the years came from the property.

I can’t wait to show you the inside, but wait we must until the escrow closes.

I feel as if I am in a dream, and now understand why God said, “No” the first time around.

We are so blessed!

I want to thank each and every one of you for your prayers and heartfelt good wishes.  They mean so much!

May all your blessings be returned to you tenfold!

NOTE:  The refrain above is from “My Window Faces the South.”  It was written back in back in 1937 by Jerry Livingston, Abner Silver and Mitchell Parish.  I always assumed, incorrectly, that it was a Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen original.  Who knew?  I sure didn’t!  It was made popular by Fats Waller and has remained so to the present day.

It’s been one of those days…

It started with one of Polly’s eggs exploding in her nest and ruining the whole clutch.  😦

Then this afternoon I went out and all my bees are swarming!  I tried to capture the swarm into another hive body that I have, but have no way of knowing if I got the queen or not.  😦

And just a while ago our realtor called and told us that someone else has bid on the property we found.  The owner has told him that he wants cash, so now the other bidder has to talk to his wife and see what she says.

I really hope she says:

“NO!”

So now we shall wait to see if God says yes.

WARNING:  for the easily grossed out, please read no further!

It seems that my day was not over yet, because the bad eggs I had pulled out earlier and put into a box to throw away, I promptly forgot about leaving them on the back steps. . .

Tucker found the box, dug into it, ate the contents and then barfed them up onto the living room rug.  We tried several different applications and used the rug shampooer on it, but it is now hanging on the back fence.  I don’t know if the stench will ever come out!

THEN, not to be outdone, Buddy found the remnants of one of the eggs (shells mostly) and he at them.  Then for good measure rolled in the remainder.  Two hours later he went into the bedroom and barfed on the carpet.  Thankfully, the remainders, were not so virulent as the original nasty dead eggs, and therefore we were able to clean the bedroom carpets efficiently.

I have had enough and believe I will be heading off to bed now.

😛

An Easter Surprise!

Bob’s sister Kathee and her husband John have started a tradition of sending us See’s Chocolates, from California.  It is a much appreciated and anticipated event at Easter time!

This year we opened the box to find that it had apparently been too closely guarded by a fire-breathing dragon!  It was melted, bubbled, and then re-cooled into a congealed and unappetizing mass.  (Don’t worry Kathee and John!  I called and See’s replaced it with BRAND NEW and sent it OVERNIGHT to us!!!)

😀 😀 😀

So, I picked through the carnage of the first order and placed the least damaged on the dining room table.  Hey, we don’t waste minimally damaged See’s candy in this house!  It is simply too delicious!

Later that evening we were preparing for bed and I realized something was amiss…

“Hey!  What happened to those two chocolate eggs and the bag of jelly beans?”

BAD DOG TUCKER!  VERY BAD DOG!!!

Yes, he got sick!

Bloated, bad gas, and threw up.

SICK!

Did he learn his lesson?

Unfortunately, NO.

😦

He has done it before and will likely do it again, but in my own defense, I honestly did not expect the little circus dog to get up onto the dining room table.  Next time?

TOP SHELF IN THE PANTRY!

A new Farmlet awaits us…

Right near the City of Huntsville in a covenanted estate community only fifteen minutes from downtown, sits my lovely home on eighteen acres.  It affords a spectacular view of the surrounding mountains, my rolling fenced pastures, and TWO ponds for Polly and the gang.

Our new and elegant home features five bedrooms, including a downstairs master suite and a second master suite upstairs, and six baths!

Now for those lovely days when my chores are done there are two covered porches, a raised terrace, and flagstone patio for relaxing on too!  Our walkout basement features a wonderful recreation room and game room, and hey, if that isn’t enough, there are an adjacent 300 acres available…

Well, heck, why not?

(Please click the first photograph to open the gallery.)

And all this for a mere $1,925,000.00
