Ready or Not!

I have put it off for far too long.

The time is now or never.

So,

Ready or Not, my Etsy store is open!

First items are Mad Chicken Lady Hats.  Why?  Because you and I both know that Spring has a few tricks up her sleeve.  If you have early morning chores to do (feed the livestock, walk the dog) and the wind is blowing you may like these MCL hats.  The original hat can be viewed on an early post, Confessions of a Mad Chicken LadyHERE.  New hats are on sale at Farmlet Originals.  HERE .

BestFriend1This hat was born of my frustration for ill fitting caps that won’t stay down, and scarves that won’t stay on in the wind.

I also have a few aprons up and there will of course be many more items as time goes by.  Bob and I have future plans for a few woodcraft items too!

My favorite!

FrenchPost1Please  go have a look and and I hope you like what you see!

A special notice to my out of the states readers:

I am still learning the ins and outs of listing and postage procedure.  If you see an item and you might like it, please let me know and I will mark it as on hold for you.  I can then put in your mailing info and get you a postage price.  Thank you for your patience while I learn.

PS:  If you like it let me know.  If you think the pricing is off (too high or too low) let me know that too.

Thank you!

Fits and Spurts

I have been busy working on several projects in my studio.  All of them working up my courage to complete a project for a dear friend.  You see, the perfectionism gene I inherited from my father would not even let me begin this project unless I could make it perfect

It is sad really, this letting myself stress and hold back, when the very thing that would make my work better is to dive in and GO FOR IT.

“Enough stalling!”  I told myself.

The job is now complete, I am not perfect, and though long overdue on a promise…

Here it is!

Julie’s apron!

I chose the fabric for her because it reminded me of peacock feathers and mandalas.  A mandala is a circular emblem, often with spokes in its design.   It can be found in many cultures and its designs are infinite.

It is said to:

“[Represent] the universe itself, a mandala is both the microcosm and the macrocosm, and we are all part of its intricate design. The mandala is more than an image seen with our eyes; it is an actual moment in time. It can be can be used as a vehicle to explore art, science, religion and life itself. The mandala contains an encyclopedia of the finite and a road map to infinity.”

Quoted from The Mandala Project, and found HERE.

I hope she likes it.

The pockets are fully lined,

the hem is deep to cover the raw edges of the blue stripe, and it is invisibly stitched.  The waist ties are extra long so they may be tied in the front or back and the little stitching at the waistband is also invisible!  I added a bit of quilters batting into the pocket bands, and the waistband to help give them a bit of substance, and for flair I added some beading on the pocket bands and to one of the mandalas!

This was fun!

Sometimes you just need to take a moment

I have been spinning my wheels for a couple of weeks now.  Trying to get things done and it was just impossible!  Why?  Because my studio was a HOT MESS!

So, taking a day off from wheel spinning, I cleaned up, organized, and put almost everything I had pulled out from the fabric wall…

back where it belongs.  Wondering about my little Barista Bears everywhere?  They are space blockers to keep my naughty kitties off my fabric!

THANKYOUVERYMUCH!

Well, I am done cleaning and putting away, but it still looks cluttered.  I think I need to hang some shelves on this wall.  Maybe a gallery above with a quilt hanger below?  Someday maybe, but this week it was more lighting for my cutting table!  I am very happy to have the light.  That little window just doesn’t help.

More light means better accuracy when I cut my fabric.

Trust me… this IS cleaned up!

Now that I am in a state of organized confusion I will get back to work.  What am I working on?

  • the quilt blocks on the process board
  • an apron for Julie in Australia (mock ups also on the process board)
  • and a rug out of THESE…

I found them in the laundry last weekend!

I wonder what he imagined I was gonna do with them?

😉

What has kept you busy this month?
