I was asked if my Golden Hennies laid golden eggs. Well OK, maybe not golden, but definitely BIG!
Why you might wonder?
BECAUSE THEY’RE TWINS!

Oooh, I love your pretty plates!
Do you eat all your unborn chicks, or do you let some become new hennies? How many does your flock number, anyway?
For now all the eggs are eaten by us, and our neighbors, and my new friends at work, and anyone else I can unload them on.
Each of the eight Hennies lay an egg a day, except the double yolker, she lays one about every other day… LOTS OF EGGS! 🙂
Our winter weather has been all the way down into the teens on several occasions (like right now its 14 degrees at 6 am) so now is not an appropriate time for chicks, but in Spring they will be setting for chickies and I can’t wait!
NOTE- It is unusual for chickens to lay this many eggs in winter, but we have a heat lamp in the hen house to keep them warm on really cold nights and the longer light hours make them lay like its summer. We are working on a better way to keep them warm without increasing their winter laying. I think I will try an infrared light and see if this slows the girls down.
