Points you may want to consider before you start:
- Start small
- Start with something easy… something easy is NOT Maple leaves.
- Don’t teach yourself on a deadline… like say, a gift for a friend.
If you watch the video, follow Deb’s instructions, and my hints above, then you will probably have a fun time learning this beautiful craft. 😉

You’re my hero! I swear, anybody that can create using a needle and thread is amazing and awesome and wonderful and oh-so-talented. If I stretch WAY outside my comfort zone, I can reattach a button ….. anything more and it goes to Goodwill. But, ask me to cook for a room of people and I’m all over it! Hello Nicole, My mom loved to sew. So of course I wanted to do it too! However, being too young to use the sewing machine I started at age 7 by hand sewing for my dolls. When I was a pre-teen then she taught me to use the sewing machine. Quilting and applique are very new skills that I want to learn, hence I am teaching myself. Although I do enjoy handsewing and cross-stitch, I have barred myself from learning any new crafts until I’ve finished the many things I have started!
Well Cindy, I certainly know what work does to the creative process. You want to do it for yourself, but then all the hafta’s take over and there it sits. I have certainly had my share of UFO’s (unfinished objects). I’m into all this learning and sharpening of skills because I want to make a business of it. I love this kind of work. I am about to post some pictures to my Facebook page of the WIP. I figure the GP and my friends will let me know if I am all wet or if my work passes muster. 😉 (Now I need to learn how to put my “Life on the Farmlet” Facebook page on my web page…) ~ L
