April, I don’t usually mind them myself, but this little fella was hanging up-side-down on the front of the brim! So I was a little exited for a moment. Just a moment anyway. 😉
Ugh, Julie I do not. Though I have always been fascinated by the Daddy Long legs, I found his proximity to my face a bit disturbing, and those legs! Entirely too long to be of any use that I can see, with the possible exception of giving one the creeps! LOL!

I love these – for some reason, they don’t seem like real spiders to me. They are, of course, but they’re clearly no threat to us, so I guess I’ve given them a pass.
I’ve seen one of those great, vibrating masses of them just once, up at The Place. It was at the back of the cabin, a hanging bunch that was about two feet long and a foot wide – there had to be hundreds of them. Quite a sight! But not as cute as that one on your hat!
Thank you Linda,
That is probably because they are not, and you are correct in stating that they are no threat to us. Though there was that nasty urban rumor that was going around claiming:
“They are the most poisonous spider in the world, but their mouth parts are so small that they are unable to bite…” (Poisonous? NOT TRUE!)
That one is a cutie isn’t it? Did you notice that the second leg back on the right is much longer than the rest? Wonder why? ~ L
I am not terrified, but this Daddy did give me the heebies when viewed hanging upside-down off the brim of my hat. Just entirely too close to my face! 😉

It is! This is my third one. When they get too ratty for public I wear them in the garden. After that it is trash I’m afraid. Weirdly, they are made of about 90% paper, are not too hot, give excellent sun protection and last for several years… that is unless you forget and leave them in the overhead compartment on the plane. 😉 ~ L

A great photo!
Thanks! I’m using an Olympus DSLR without a macro lens, and sometimes I get lucky!

(A tripod helps too. 😉 )
I love Daddy Long Legs! I hope you were kind to your hitchhiker. Thanks for sharing this pic!
Oh of course! After the photo op I took my hat outside and gently shook him into the rose bush out front by the porch. 😀

That’s about the only spider I don’t mind hanging around. 🙂

Sweet!

I like the idea of ‘wearing’ a spider – hehe!

Hi,
Wow, an excellent photo, and you are so right about checking your hat before going inside. 🙂
Thank you!

That would have scared our youngest half to death. She’s terrified of spiders, even innocent little daddy long legs.
Awww… !

Great shot, Lynda.
Thank you, Victoria! I wasn’t certain that it would come out, but it did! ~ L
Ah, yes, the great outdoors! lol
Patti, I really aught not to put the hat in the grass what with the tick population explosion we’ve had lately. Won’t happen again I think. 😛

Nice picture, and so this does fit into my night-meres. Ali
Sorry Sis, just reporting it the way it was. 😉

Loving the fact it is made of paper
Origin of these perfect long legs?.. Just great genes;-).
True enough! ~ L
