Late last week it got down to about 23 degrees overnight. It has taken me five years of living here to figure out to fill the water buckets the night before, and then just break the ice the next morning! WAY easier than hauling three gallon water buckets from the bathroom out to the goose run.

Well, there is certainly nothing delicate about these 3 x 3 inch quite pointy formations, now is there? 😉

And Frellnick is a very overprotective father to be!
He looks so threatening, doesn’t he? But he is all show with me. Georgie on the other hand has been getting his ‘tail feathers’ whupped this past week.
Sadly, I have had to separate them again. 😦

In the meantime, I have finally calmed down from the excitement of new Farmlet buying. So now I wait for a house appraisal, thoroughly CLEAN the aforementioned house in preparation for a very special visitor (who flies in for a weeks stay next month) and watch for Polly to begin setting in earnest!
So much is happening over the next four weeks!

Life on the Farmlet 
Well you’lll need to pin a note on the fridge about the water. Maybe you’ll not forget that way. The geese are remarkably loyal to each other.
Yvonne, I didn’t say I had forgotten to water them. LOL! I said it took me 5 years to figure out that watering them the night before (when the hoses are not frozen) was much easier than carrying a couple of full, three gallon, buckets of water out to them in the morning. When I fill them the night before, I can simply crack the ice out in the morning. Easy-Peesy! 🙂
Oh yes, and you are correct! They are very loyal to each other, and that’s why I love them so!
Lynda, I didn’t mean that you would forget to water the fowl. I didn’t make that very clear. I was referring to the ice thing. 🙂
I had to laugh at how frantic your post sounds – see! It’s not just me that does this to her life. It’s all good things though, except of course for having to separate the geese again. It’s like a bunch of small children that don’t want to get along. Unfortunately though, the consequences can be fatal if you don’t do something about it.

When we lived in a very cold climate it took me a few years to remember to cover the car so I didn’t have to crack the ice off it in the morning to open the doors!

Baby geese are goslings. Once Polly begins to actually sit it will take 30 to 35 days for them to hatch.
I am certain you are, but I am also certain that I would feel guilty if I let you help. We plan to prep the new house before we even think about moving a stick of furniture into it. There is some seriously UGLY blue lace wallpaper in the bathroom and some more ugly and O.L.D wall paper in the dining room. Patooey! It’s gotta go so I can paint!
Actually, the new place is so much smaller than this one I will have to get rid of a bunch of STUFF. Could you stand helping me with organizing a yard sale? I absolutely detest them, but it must be done. (you can say “NO!” believe me I will understand! LOL!

So much activity! You do know that you don’t necessarily have to pull old wall paper, right? You can just get rid of what’s loose, etc., seal it with pigmented shellac and then paint. Of course, if it’s flocked, that won’t work. Oh,gosh – flocked wallpaper. Arrrrggghhhh….
I looked at the lamb recipe and thought – good gosh. That’s a lot of work, and I don’t even like lamb! But the spice mixture might be good with some other dishes. Or, I might just head over to a local Greek restaurant and let it go at that!
Linda, I might consider that for the Dining room, but will definitely pull the bathroom paper! Just to be certain there is no mold growing behind it!!! 😉

As for the lamb dish, there are no Greek eateries in or near to Huntsville. We just cook what we adore to eat at home… unless of course it is a birthday or our anniversary. 😀
