~ Shopping Cart Escapades ~

(A tiny scene presented in 100 words)

“Who’s bright idea was this anyway?”  Aldi chides.

“Yeah!”  Belle whines,  “My wheeeels are rustinnng!”

“Be quiet you two!”  warns Safeway. “Who was to know it would rain like this?”

“It’s getting light out, we really need to roll!”  advises Aldi

Belle,  “We’re gonnaaa get cauuught!”

Safeway and Aldi in unison:  “Quit whining Belle!”

Safeway, “You thought this was a great idea when we talked about it last night!”

Belle, “Ohhh!   We’re all ruuusted!”

“Just get in the parking lot, Belle!”

Why were these carts left out?  And don’t tell me they let themselves out to play!

Marianna, You and Evil Squirrel both called me on that one. LOL, clearly I have never shopped at Aldi! 😉

Hey, thanks for leaving a comment on this side of FB!

LOL! Yep, Aldis has the quarter deposit system to financially encourage customers to return their carts to the store. I’m surprised a lot of other stores don’t use it… both me and my poor beat up car sure wish the store I worked at did!

I have only seen these pay per use cart corrals at some of the larger malls in California. (You paid 50-75 cents for the privilege and there was no return on your investment) We NEVER paid. However, most of the folks with kids in tow did! 😉

    • Lynda says:

Good for you for not letting the cart choose the way! Most likely it would steer you right over to all the over processed food items that are on sale, and that you don’t want to eat anyway. They send them to school and train them how to do that you know. 😉

I think they purposely snuggle up to the rear passenger side of your car so you don’t notice them until you’re backing out of your spot (and they’ve nicked your door–you can almost hear them chuckling). Perhaps we should regard the rain as retribution. Cute story, Lynda.

    • Lynda says:

Yes, I believe you are onto something! Then there are the Kamikaze Karts, the ones that for no apparent reason suddenly zoom across the parking lot, gaining speed and aiming for your car’s side panels. They could be maimed, or taken out of service for their recklessness, and they don’t even care! 😉

Thank you for your comment, and the visit today, VBHolmes!

Fun, Lynda! I love the dialogue between the carts, and the irony in the employee’s comment at the end. This is funny, and clever. Like you, and so many others, I didn’t anticipate so many anthropomorphic responses (nor the opportunity to use that word!), but they’ve all been so well done. Nice post.

So how about that? Go on; say something!
