I saw this today on Hwy 72 just outside of Decatur.
Regular at under $3.00 a gallon!
And it made me wonder:
What is everyone else paying for a gallon of gas these days?
BTW, this price drop just happened as of yesterday, and yes, I did stop and fill up the tank! 😉
I’ve been paying about $2.73 for a week or so, though I did see today that it’s down in some stations to $2.69. The highest I paid on my trip was $3.39, and the lowest I’ve seen is $2.68. That’s at a station that’s always involved with a mini-gas-war, though. I think brothers-in-law own the two stations, and they’ll undercut one another in a minute.
GAS WARS? Jeeze… I haven’t seen one of those since the 70s! How fun!
I haven’t been out today, but one of the prices I saw here yesterday was $3.11
Going by everyone else here in the states, that is looking to be an average price! 🙂
3.05 here, inn Illinois, not terribly much at all is it!?. c
Going by everyone else too, no, not so much at all! 😀
We paid $3.25/gal this week in Massachusetts. For once in a long time we are under $60 a tank!
I love it when that happens! However, my truck has a very big tank… So I don’t see that happening in my future. 😯
Compared to Turkey, anywhere else will seem cheap — $9.60 a gallon! (approximately, but you get the idea…) The prices are printed in litres, which reduces the sticker shock… a little. Interesting that diesel is more expensive there. It’s cheaper here ($8.80).
Siobhan, it used to be cheaper here too, and then the diesel engine got popular and they jacked up the price. I really feel bad for the truck drivers here. And, yes, pricing it by the litre would make it seem not so bad. Sorta like when we see that “$2.99 and 9/10ths” verses $3.00! 😉
3.14 in Colorado. I’d prefer the 2.99 any day!
It is seeming to get more expensive the closer to the west coast you get. How unfair! But just think of this:
When we moved here five years ago Californians were paying well over $4.00 a gallon! Doesn’t that $3.14 seem better now? 😉
Excellent point. Yes, that does make it sound better. As my husband would say, “Isn’t it sad that we get excited about paying $3.14 a gallon?” That may be true, but it’s better than $4.
😉
Your prices must be in line with southwest Illinois… we just dropped under $3.00 this week. Of course, just 7 miles and one river west of here in Missouri, it’s 20 cents cheaper than even that!
That would almost make it worth the drive! 😉
Almost… if the bridges across the river weren’t all north and south of here, making the drive a bit longer. And today it’s back up to $3.09!
Awww!
Mmmmm, we’re paying rather a lot more. Doing the conversion to dollars and gallons it works out at 8.72. Not surprising the trend is to more fuel efficient vehicles here.
Annie, it was something like $3.25 or $3.50 way back when I was in HS (’71… ’72?) so your price does not shock me. However, I wouldn’t want to pay it! Yes, we are whining about our price per gallon and trending towards more fuel efficient cars here too. Though I am sure we haven’t become as motivated as you are over there! Yet. 😯
That’s what I paid for gas today, in Virginia Beach. It’s nice to see it below $3, didn’t expect that to ever happen again.
That’s what Bob said last week, and then all of a sudden it was!
We were able to get gas for $2.99 over the weekend at a Sam’s location but the rest of the Cincinnati stations are charging around $3.19.
Lillian
Now that is something I don’t get. How do they have such a vast difference from station to station?
Dang girl! My son laughs when I use that term …
So one of the positive sides to being housebound is that I haven’t had to fill up the truck or bike in a month! Glad you found such a good deal!
LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL-LOL! I almost used that phrase on you the other day, but chickened out because I didn’t know how you would take to it.
I shouldn’t have worried! 😀
Me too! Especially because traveling to the Mtn. Farmlet is such a distance.
Never thought I’d see that again. $3.35 here.
We didn’t think so either, but apparently (judging by the comments) it is going way down all over the states. Think happy thoughts, Adam, you may yet see under $3!
It has been around $3 here in Austin, TX in the past couple of weeks too, oscillating between $2.99 and $3.10, mostly 🙂
We’ve been in the $3.05 to $3.35 range for a few weeks now, with it slowly coming down to yesterday’s under $3. This right after Bob said we probably would never see under $3 a gallon again. Surprise! OK, it’s only 1/10th of one cent, but hey, it looks like a bargain on the sign. 😉
Gas here is $1.11 per litre. There are 4.5 litres in a Gallon. so I pay $4.99/gallon in the country where the fuel comes from, in the very province where most oil comes from! In fact you pay less for our oil than we do. Part of the reason we pay more is our government taxes it stupid. Roughly 0.17 cents per litre is tax for the provincial and federal government. The other part of why we pay more is that we’re apparently stupid (I’m not joking) We also pay way more for technology, service providers, everything. I mean we are willing to pay so why not charge us I guess. Ok my tirade is over…
I understand your tirade, Diana. It sounds cliche, but it is true what they say about “supply and demand“.
In my side of Michigan it jumps up to 30 cents in a moment. It was down to $3.04 on the day I needed gas for a change, and back up to $3.29 that afternoon. 😦
I really hate it when that happens! Who decides such things?
not quite over haha…my brother lives in Quebec and pays up to $1.30 per litre – that’s a gasping $5.85/gallon!
Yikes!
Oklahoma gas prices have been decreasing for the last month or so. I think locally we’re at 2.78 for regular, but I heard on the OKC news that $2.62 was the lowest early this week in the metro. I hope the prices stay low during the holidays. Wouldn’t that be great for travel?
It would! 😀
My friends and I made the 4-hour drive to the riverhouse today, and when we stopped for fuel, I smiled and said, “I’ve been visiting Ecuador for ten years, and the price of fuel is still holding at one dollar forty eight cents.”
Sigh; how sweet it is! twice as sweet, as after three months of being away, i’m home! will be catching up over the weekend.. time tonight, however, for sleep! it’s been a long day/week/few months!

So glad you are home, Lisa, and I hope you had a good and restful night. Enjoy your weekend, and I can’t wait to hear all about your adventures in detail!
PS: I think I may have found my own version of Playamart; It’s Mountain-mart! 😉
HA! I was so excited about your arrival home I forgot to say that you have come in as the low price leader on price per gallon of gas! WOW!
