Having been ill with the walking pneumonia for a couple of weeks has left me weak and unable (make that scared to go out in public with all the FLU in the air) to get out.
So what to do for a Valentines card for Bob?
Make it.
With what?
Scraps of course!
Digging into my scrap drawer for red, white and black fabric scraps, I cut, sewed and then stitched this together. I then added a few vintage mother of pearl buttons to it for flair. I thought it could have been neater, but Bob said it wouldn’t have looked right if I had made it perfect.
Glad he liked it. 🙂

It was a good idea to sew a card of your scraps, and it is so beautiful. Thank you for visiting my blog, Thanks for a nice comment, and thank you for linking my blog. 🙂
Thank you, Birthe!
Nice use of your scraps, lovely card, amd much nicer than a Hallmark card. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Thank you, Netty!
Aww, that’s *lovely*! Bob’s a lucky man. We completely forgot about Valentine’s Day, being travelling at the time, but we did manage to score some chocolate before the end of the day 🙂 I hope you’re feeling much better very soon.
Thank you, Kate. I am light years better than I was. Just so awfully tired.
Yes, it’s a bit of a killer like that… Fatigue, and then the depression that so often follows. Be well, my friend.
❤
I am really sorry that you got the walking pneumonia. We both had the flu and it was no fun at all
Thank you, Tom. The worst of it was the cough. I slept sitting up for days, then I had a violent reaction to the cough medicine from the Dr. (Hydrocodone). I don’t know what I will be able to take the next time I ever get a cough like that. For now I just need energy. 😛
I think your valentine is wonderful. Frilly and frou-frou just wouldn’t have made it, but this is perfect. I hate that you’ve been ill, and I think you’re smart to stay away from the flu-bearers, but it’s clear that you’re creative enough to “make do” even in those less than happy circumstances!
Linda, in spite of everything, I was in a celebratory mood. 🙂 Just scared to go out into the germs. And, around here there are always LOTS of scraps! 😀
And you made excellent use of them! (Anyone can go out and buy a card; )
… Mmm, maybe other people would love your scrappy card as much as we do?
If you are saying what I think you are, then you are on my wavelength. 😉
Oh, I am TOTALLY on your wavelength!: )
Thank you, Deb!
I’ve never heard of ‘walking pneumonia’ but it sounds awful and I’m glad you’re starting to feel better.
As for Bob’s comment on your supposedly less than perfect Valentine’s card – awwww, bless him, I got a warm feeling inside as I expect you did too. I had to make do with borrowing your warm feeling as my husband forgot! Again!
Lynn, it is a milder form of pneumonia and won’t send you to the hospital, but it does weaken your system and the cough is horrific! Very dry and doesn’t let up w/o help. I feel for you and must confess, that for too many years in our house it was me who forgot the card days! (Aniversary mostly) Sad but true. 😯

What a bummer you’ve been so ill. It sounds like your mind is up and active though… and what a great scrappy valentine. I hope you are on the mend and back to good soon!
So much better, Lori, just draggin’ butt tired. Thank you for the card comment too. ❤ Sending you an email in a minute…
What a cool idea! I hope you get well soon.
Thank you TMOMM! I am so much better, just very tired. But at least I can sleep laying down now! 😀
That is so cleverly done! It’s a wonderful valentine, worth more than anything store-bought. Having the flu right now, I can tell you, you made the right decision. I’m hoping that’s as far as I go!
Oh, Susan, I am so sorry you got it. Flu is just miserable. Wishing you well very soon! ❤ And thank you for the compliment too.
how are you, dear one? i hope feeling well, strong, and happy to see springtime awaken!
I am all well, Lisa, and thank you for checking in on me. I have been stuck in the doldrums off and on for far to long, but find myself out and doing gardening bit by bit on the warmest of these spring days. We spent ourselves on the Mtn. Farmlet in so many ways and let this place fall to the wayside because we were so tired all the time. However, we are snapping out of that now too and our home is starting to look like we live here again. Spring is helping my/our outlook. ❤
it’s great to hear from you, and yes, sometimes we realize that the trail we were once on, does not serve us as well as another.. sometimes we need incubation time. i remember long ago in costa rica, as i prepared to either go up the ladder – or down- to get to the footbridge that crossed a little stream and went straight into my studio/casita.. and i thought, ‘one day this won’t be fun anymore.’
i’m glad that i moved on before i reached that ‘it’s not fun’ point. life gave me some nudges and then a big kick that propelled me to ecuador!!!
enjoy the explosion of spring flowers/colors/longer days, etc ! you’ll reclaim that joy one day at a time.
