Oh, hello! Someone has set up housekeeping in your backyard 🙂
She has, Kate. Judging by her black-barred, blue tail I think she’s a Blue Jay. She was very content to sit and watch me. She never moved till I took the shot. Want a better look? The Audubon field guide is here and you can even hear their raucous call (scroll down and look to the right): http://www.audubon.org/field-guide/bird/blue-jay
Very pretty, except for the voice!
True!
Nice capture!
Thank you, Deb. This spring seems to have reawakened my interest in the great out of doors. Now I need to remember to wear my camera when I go outside each day!
What fun, Lynda! I know that I’m helping to feed bluejay babies. I don’t know where the nests are, but there are at least two pair coming for the peanuts in the shell I put out for them every day.
After the winter we had, getting outdoors again is wonderful. I hope all’s well, and that spring’s bringing you treasure after treasure!
Thank you, Linda, it is!
Is that a Momma Blue Jay, Lynda?
GREAT pic!!
Can’t see her silhouette because she’s looking right at you, but I can just get a hint of her beautiful blue tail feathers: )
