Here on the Farmlet there are a few words and phrases that are never said out loud unless we really mean it.
In order of importance to the Little Dog they are:
- “Ball” (ALWAYS spelled when we are talking to each other.)
- “Kong” (Same as above)
- “Who want’s breakfast/dinner?” (abbreviated, when we are wondering if the other has already fed them their “B” or “D”)
- “Is daddy home yet?”
- “Clean-up on isle nine!” (This one is handy whenever you have spilled something on the kitchen floor, or when it is time to go to bed and they are frolicking and barking with total abandon in the dark … and yes, we do reward for an appropriate response at bedtime!)
This morning However . . .
Not even the number one word could get a rise out of the Little Dog!
When the north wind blows,
and a chill is in the air,
sometimes all that is needed
is a soft bed…
and a warm nose.

Stay warm, and enjoy your weekend my friends!

LOL…. what a cutie. Dogs are the best people I know 😉
He is a very special pup! ~ L
That’s a very sensible dog indeed.
Sensible is not a word I would normally use when speaking of the Little Dog, but in this case I must agree with you! 😉 ~L
He is just so cute! I love how his little foot is over his head. such an aww photo.. c
Thank you Cecilia, he is a very special Little Dog, and very SMART too. BTW, I loved your description of TonTon in the shower. My dog Buddy is exactly like that at bath time. Never knew it was because of his Border Collie half. 🙂 ~ L
So cute!
Thanks Patti, we think he’s pretty special! ~ L
Even though he’s a dog and my Dixie Rose is a cat, they have pretty much the same look in their eyes. You have cold, and we have our first truly whomping thunderstorm in ages. As a matter of fact, it whomped so much that I disconnected the computer and Dixie burrowed under the bed for a spell.
We probably like our rain more than you like your cold, though. On the other hand, the cute Little Dog looks pretty darned cozy in his digs.
Linda, I am so glad you are getting rain! I like rain, but I get very cold in winter now, so no, I don’t care for the cold. Tucker isn’t nicknamed the Little *Sun* Dog without good reason! His short fur and small size make him better suited to the warmer weather. And he DETESTS having to put a sweater over his head with that long snout of his! lol! ~ L
😉
Hi,
Loved the post. 🙂
We used to have to spell out words like that with our last baby we had, the dog we have now not so much.
I love the photo, the eyes really do say a lot. 😀
LOL! My parents used to have to spell out words around me too… but that’s a post for another “Once Upon a Time in the West! 😉 Thank you for visiting, AND for all the amazing things you find to share with us on your blog. I love it!
~ L
By baby, I was talking about our last dog, who was much smarter than the dog we currently have. 😀
Thank You very much for your kind words.
Oh, he’s beautiful! I bet he soon figures out the spelling though – our dogs have!
Thank you, but I hope you are wrong about that!! ~ L
BALL!!!!
Whew! He didn’t hear you… it’s too early for fetching and barking Aunty Pam! ~ L
Ha ha! We do the same thing. The treat word will cause a stampede, so the code words become pantry or closet instead. Same thing with “who wants to eat” becomes “go get the dishes off the floor”.
My little dog does the same thing when it’s cold out. Of course if the beagle starts howling outside, that can change in an instant.
We do love our little dogs eh? I had always been a cat person before. Then I got doggie obedience trained and now I prefer dogs. 😉
I spell SNACK every day, but I think they’re on to it! I have 3 Japanese Chin (two are adopted rescues) that I’m pretty sure know how to spell by now! Love the photo!
LOL! You are the second person to tell me that their dogs can spell! So funny! ~ L
our word is squirrel. It can get the diva out of a warm bed (ours), down the steps and out the door in a flash. That order is correct. We have steps so that the mini doxie can get in the bed. She does share with us though. She loves her sweaters. She will be shibbering, as we say, and as soon as the sweater goes on she stops.
Little Dog is undecided about those sweaters. When it’s in the teens and twenties there is no argument. The rest of the time he hangs his head and acts pathetic when it is time to put one on. LOL! ~ L
Your little dog is adorable and looks very comfortable.
Thank you Skip! We think he is pretty special, but his very most favorite place to be is in our lap! ~ L
Oh that is just the sweetest picture! He is so adorable all curled up like that.
Thanks Alicia! ~ L
