At some point when I was not paying particular attention…
I jumped from nine years on WordPress to ELEVEN years on WordPress. Wow, I guess I was just really busy? Well, as a matter of fact am.
- I made three quilts this year, start to finish, which is apparently a big deal to some folks around here.
- I joined a quilting group in Huntsville recently.
- I have been getting out into the world! Ergo, the ability to join the quilt group and actually go and have fun.
- I lost a good
dogfriend. Good-by Buddy. And found a newdogfriend; Hello, Walker!
Hey I was busy and the time got away from me. So I will try to be more communicative here, because I actually do want to share my activities. I just have to find a way to be less wordy and perhaps push more photographic evidence of my journey this year. Because as they say:

Snow seems early where you live but then maybe it really is not all that early. Snow is just so messy when it melts. In my area we hardly ever get snow and if we do, it is light and never lasts for more than a day to half a day.
It seems that winter came in with a bang and not a flourish in quite a few areas- at least it did here in central Texas as of about 12 noon Monday. It blew in with a mighty chill and I do mean chill. The chill factor was about 25 degrees or at least it felt as if it were. I detest winter and love fall. But oh well I should not complain since so many other folks have it much worse.
You have been a very busy quilter and I bet those quilts are gorgeous. Have you ever entered any in a state or county fair? And have you ever done a bird or animal pattern?
Yvonne, yes the ‘snow’ (the weatherman called it a “wintry mix” is very early. Listening a bit longer I found out that we may be breaking cold records from the flyover country deep down even into the Florida Panhandle! Tonight will be 17 degrees, which is funny, because the windchill outside this morning was that cold! Dogs, Cats, Chickens, Geese and even I didn’t like it much at all.
Send us some of your cold, your wintry mix… please? I’m so glad life is sending you time to have fun, to set stitches and enjoy company, not least of the furry kind. Mouse says Hi to Walker, and recommends banana cupcakes, the cheeky thing.
You know I would if I could! You all surely need it. ❤
It’s bad, down south. Hard to watch, knowing you have friends and family there.
I laughed at Yvonne’s comment. She got the cold front about noon, and it arrived at my house at 5:11 p.m. We dropped twenty-five degrees in an hour. YeeHaw!
It’s all inside activities this morning, including catching up with blogs. I was delighted to see yours pop up — congrats on those eleven years! I was really glad to see you’ve joined a quilting group, too. Getting out and about is a good thing.
It sure is easy to let time get away. I’m still not quite believing we’re almost to mid-November, but so it is. Onward!
Linda, now that is just to quick a drop in temperature! My all time weather favorite is when the day’s high occurs in the middle of the night. That has happened a few times here.
Yes, I would have been there this week but it would have meant leaving the pup in his crate for too long. I may pop in later this month with a little basket of hand sewing and stay for an hour. It will allow me to keep in touch and not feel guilty about Walker being in Puppy Prison.
As for the time getting away… well, best not to say what I really think. Might be the wrong flavor of political for some. 😉

Look at you! It’s good to have time for yourself. I was out of town for work and coming home had to white knuckle drive through sideways driven snow. I like the white stuff. But when I am in my house with a cup of tea.
I couldn’t agree with you more, Joanne. We had a foot of the white stuff one year and it took a week to melt. It was the cure for my enthusiasm for snow. So, yes, definitely best to stay in.
It is cold here in the south! We had a chilling 27* which is cold for here,that’s January weather for only a few days! 🥶 great photo! I don’t mind when someone isn’t wordy… I’m not very wordy … ever 🤷🏻♀️
Deb, when we moved here from California our friends thought we were nuts because “It’s so HOT.” Yeah, right. picture blogging will be good practice for me because I can talk your ears off. 😉
It’s been cold here too. Tukker deer loves the bitter cold – makes him frisky. Even the chickens seem to enjoy it. I never did like it when I lived up north in Nebraska… and I wonder sometimes if I didn’t move far enough south!
Congratulations on eleven years. And congrats on getting out a bit more these days. It does feel good to be a part of something you enjoy. 🙂
Lori, it is amazing how good it feels and how it has changed my quilt output! I’ll have three up and/or ready for sale by the end of next week, and one to turn into the quilter when I go in to town to pick up the third.
As for your cold, I have been watching your weather! Not for me, I’ll tell ya. Cold and/or snow are best enjoyed sitting by the fire and looking out the picture window to see what comes by. 😉
